There is no doubt that of all the medifast foods, shakes are probably the most popular. These drinks are tasty, filling, and packed with protein and nutrients. They are also quite convenient and easy to consume. I often get asked if you can buy or order them individually or if you have to order a bundle. I will address these concerns in the following article.
Medifast Shakes: Options, Nutrition, Flavors and Taste:Before you start ordering, I want to go over the options you have, as well as the nutrition that the shakes pack. Basically there are three main options, the 55, the 70 and the ready to drink. You have to mix the 55 and the 70 in a blender. In fact, I prefer this because it allows me to control the texture and add sugar-free syrups or whipped cream. These are really easy to prepare.
The main difference between the 55 and 70 is the protein content. 70 is more for sporty men or women. Most women will go for the 55. The flavors available for these are Banana Cream, Dutch Chocolate, Swiss Mocha, French Vanilla, Strawberry Cream, and Orange Cream. I’m not that into most cream flavors. The exception to this is the banana. I like that. But, more often than not, I opt for chocolate, usually the Dutch variety, and add caramel or raspberry syrup. These shakes contain around 90 calories, 11 grams of protein, and only 8 grams of sugars. They also contain a large amount of your daily needs of more than 25 vitamins and minerals.
Ready-to-drink shakes are already prepared for you. Basically, this is a juice box for dieters. You put the draw in the box and there is nothing to mix or mix. Obviously these are the most convenient, but you can’t control the texture and these feel thicker to me. I keep these in my bag so I always have something on hand, but mostly, I stick with the blender type. They are available in Dutch Chocolate and French Vanilla. Nutritionally, these are similar to 55s, but contain slightly less sugar.
There are also options for people with health problems that the company calls “specialty shakes.” There are options for diabetics, people with heart or joint problems, women approaching hormonal changes, and people who want extra antioxidants. The flavors are typically chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. These are typically the 55 shakes with a little carbs removed (in the case of diabetics) and some ingredients added (antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, hormonal herbs, etc.) depending on the health issue being treated.
Ordering Medifast shakes as part of a package and individually: There is a wide variety of shakes that come with the women’s 55 pack. This is the cheapest way to order them. And, while I know some people don’t realize this, you’re not just going to be consuming shakes if you’re going to be on this diet full time. You’ll eat five of these meals per day and with a monthly package, you’re given a variety of 143 meals, with drinks being just one part.
However, if you are only interested in the shakes, you can order them individually. They often come by the box (usually 7) or by the box (usually 24). There are about $15 per box and about $60 per box.
