Everyone knows that wheatgrass juice has incredible health benefits, but its taste leaves a lot to be desired. In this article I will make a delicious wheatgrass juice recipe that makes drinking wheatgrass a pleasure.
I have a confession to make, even though I’ve been a health nut for many years, I can’t stand the taste! I always wince after drinking it and feel a little nauseous. However, I still drink it because it is a great source of chlorophyll and essential nutrients. Chlorophyll helps purify the liver, neutralizes toxins in the body, and develops the oxygen-carrying potential of the blood. It also contains beta-carotene, complex B, C, E, and vitamin K. Wheatgrass is ideal for people who want to detox and cleanse their bodies or lose weight. Unfortunately, all of these health benefits will go to waste if you can’t stand the taste.
To make wheatgrass palatable, it is recommended that you try diluting it with different types of fresh fruit and vegetable juice. Some of the best juices to mix with juiced wheatgrass are: apple, orange, and cucumber or a combination of all three. You can also dilute the juice with Kombucha or a mixture of apple juice and a fermented drink called Rejuvelac. When mixing wheatgrass with other juices, a good rule of thumb is to mix no more than 1 ounce with 16 ounces of another type of juice.
It’s easy to mix up your wheatgrass shot at your favorite local juice bar. Just order at least 16 ounces of fresh fruit or vegetable juice. For example, you can order celery, apple, lemon, ginger juice and then add your 1-ounce shot of wheatgrass juice.
Here’s one of my all-time favorite wheatgrass juice recipes that you can make at home:
1 large cucumber or 2 medium cucumbers
1 peeled orange
handful of fresh basil leaves
1 inch ginger
3 handfuls of wheatgrass or desired amount
Squeeze all ingredients through the Omega Vert juicer or other single screw juicer. Enjoy!
It is better to drink juice on an empty stomach.
