Today was a wonderful day. My husband and I took our boat out to Biscayne Bay and sailed. The day was absolute perfection: endless blue skies, a few puffy clouds, the water was flat and clear, and the air was crisp.
We headed north into downtown and enjoyed the skyline for a while, then headed to one of our favorite places: a quiet little harbor on Key Biscayne, with a trendy restaurant on the shore. We moored the boat to the boardwalk and enjoyed our delicious lunch on the porch overlooking the harbor. More perfection.
After lunch and chat, we untied the boat and headed south, enjoying the breeze under the shade of the Bimini top on our boat. Then we saw them — a pair of dolphins. What a gift! Nothing makes a day on the water better for us than an encounter with these beautiful beings.
It was clear that they wanted to play with us. They rose to the surface of the calm water, and below, again and again, making large, lazy circles around our boat. We turned off the engine, sat and watched, thanking them out loud for their magical presence.
It was like a meditation, sitting in the shade in the boat, being with them for over half an hour. And the message was clear in its wonderfully fluid, repetitive movements. SLOW, STEADY, FUNNY.
They were in perfect rhythm with each other. And his rhythm never varied. In and out, up and down, the perfect curves of their smooth, shimmering bodies cutting the surface of the water, over and over and over and over, in an endless symphony of one movement flowing into the next.
It was fascinating and, at the same time, very rooted in its simplicity. No rush, no rush, no worries, no fluttering, no straining. Just do what you know how to do to get things done: slowly, steadily, gracefully.
Life can throw us off balance. We can get stressed, worry, feel pressured by what needs to be done and how much time we have to do it.
They were feeding, no doubt. And her movements remained slow and steady and graceful. Endless.
The effect of her presence and her energy was so calming, nurturing, comforting, and comforting. They seemed to be telling us: Take it easy. You know what to do. Move slowly and deliberately. Follow your instincts. Keep a steady flow toward your goal. And focus enough on yourself and your true nature to allow true grace. His ease and economy of movement, and the beauty of his naturally flowing physical energies were so mesmerizing.
His mystical presence is still with me. And your message means a lot to me today, as I felt a bit pressured by a “to do” list after my computer was down for a few days, as well as some other pressures I was putting on myself. I am so grateful for their blessing on an already perfect day!
Just look what we attracted! Not only the sublime experience of being with the two dolphins, but also the gift of clarity on how to proceed. SLOW, STEADY, FUNNY. I can do that.
