Ignore Rights Of Residents In Mining Areas
The Manganese Company is a company owned by the KGHM ( Mining and Green Materials Ltd.) A division of the metals and coal company GlaxoSmithKline. The primary product that the company produces is Minimata, a synthetic element used in the production of a variety of chemicals, plastics, coatings, and lubricants. This company also produces Zylan, which is derived from zinc and magnesium. Zylan is often used as an additive to gasoline, diesel, lubricants, paints, and rubber. The chemical compound Minimata was created by J. E. Brown and C. L. Wilson, and the synthetic element was first made in the United States in 1931.
One of the mines controlled by the Manganese Company is located in Zambia. The mine produces Zylan, as well as a variety of other minerals, including uranium. As is the case with many mines around the world, there are many people who live in the surrounding communities that depend on the mining for their livelihoods. The mine workers and their families suffer the most during periods of low production.
The mine workers have not been compensated in accordance with the law for the years the mining was going on. Compensation for mining workers has been discussed in the past, but never acted upon. President Kibaki introduced a Mine Workers Compensation Act in 2021, but it has yet to be implemented. Part of the reason the company has not gotten any funds from this law is because it says that any claim brought must be brought within three years. It has also required that the company goes through a court proceeding before it receives any compensation.
How Does The MMCZ Find A Way To Ignore Rights Of Residents In Mining Areas?
The company is hoping to bring to the attention of the International Labor Organization and World Trade Organization that the mining is causing the majority of the poverty and other problems that are affecting the local people and destroying the life of the mining workers. They are asking the governments of Zambia, Namibia, and South Africa to stop allowing mining to take place in these countries until the conditions are rectified. International Labor Organization has made some recommendations for these areas, but until they are put into effect, the MMCZ will continue to mine for these minerals.
Another problem with the MMCZ is that in order for them to receive compensation, they need to show proof that the miners have suffered hardships while working for the company. They need to provide documentation such as letters from doctors and family members stating that they have suffered from the conditions caused by the mining. If the family members are too poor to afford the bills, the mining company can ask for monetary contributions from them. The family members do not have to worry about this part, but the MMCZ needs to ensure that the law is followed and that they receive their due.
The MMCZ is very stubborn when it comes to mining communities and does everything they can to intimidate those that wish to help the families that are affected by the mining. The MMCZ may also hire a private investigator to investigate the affairs of the family. Once the investigator has gathered enough evidence to prove that the family is in real trouble, the MMCZ will then demand that compensation be paid to the family members. This is exactly what is happening when people refuse to allow the MMCZ to mine in their homes or areas. The only way the law works in such cases is if there is enough evidence presented to show that the mining companies have indeed caused great hardships to the residents of the community.
