Imagine that the game you bet on has started and you still have the option to place another bet while the game is playing.
HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?
The software allows players to post their dollar odds on games in progress. It’s called RUNNING. If a baseball team is +140 away and you risk $100 to win +$140 and your team scores 4 runs in the third inning for a 4-0 lead, then someone would put, say, +$150 on the home team to come back and win You can now take that posted number and LOCK your bet. So you are guaranteed a win no matter which team wins. OR win $140 on the away team minus the $100 on the home team for an automatic win of $40 —- IF the away team maintains its early lead and wins the game. If the home team wins the game again, you win $150 and lose $100 for a profit of $50. This is great action as you have to be prepared to spot your best value and watch the bulletin board and the game at the same time. This also helps you cover your original bet if you want to get out of that position you took. You can go the other way if you feel like you want to limit your perceived losses. The betting software is part of a betting exchange betting program.
Perhaps the best ‘Alternate Lines’ are the Alternate Running Lines for Baseball games. Here are some examples:
METS @ BRAVE
The Mets are +140 in the Money Line and -150 in +1.5 runs (plus a run and a half)
Braves are -160 in the Money Line and +140 in -1.5 runs (minus one and a half runs)
All baseball bettors are familiar with the Run Line. The alternate strike line also allows you to bet the strike line both ways in the same game — minus -1.5 on the Mets and minus -1.5 on the Braves.
The Braves, as favorites, are listed at +140 for putting up 1.5 runs or -1.5. The next list will have the Braves listed at -240 to receive or +1.5 runs. Money odds are examples and are likely to be close to actual numbers based on the games and pitchers listed.
The Mets, as underdogs, are listed at -150 for allowing 1.5 runs or +1.5. The next list will have the Mets listed at +210 for putting up 1.5 runs or -1.5.
Here are some facts to keep in mind when betting on the racing lanes.
Major League Baseball produces approximately 30% of one-run games each year. This means that around 70% of all games are solved with 2 runs or more. I tested this fact which I call the 70/30 rule. The results of the last 5 years of each team’s one-run games were between 27% and 32% with an average of 30%. Of the 162 games played, each team had a one-run game around 48 times (give or take 4 games). Each team will play a one-race game 8-10 times per month.
