We are fast approaching the Christmas holidays and it is amazing to look around and see all the bright and festive colors that people are displaying to cheer us up. I relate these colors to how they make me feel, in addition to eating. Here is my interpretation of the colors of Christmas.
Green: Greens represent the trees that we are so proud inside our homes to feature as Christmas Day is drawing near. Green also represents the smell of herbs that are cooked with the Christmas dinner. Rosemary, thyme, parsley, mint…mmmm. I can smell the coming of Christmas!
Red: Reds represent the red ornament that we hang from our trees to bring it to life. The red lights that we hang around our windows to share our Christmas spirit with those who pass by. Reds also stand for fresh blueberries, red cabbage (a little purple, but still appropriate), and red apples for fresh apple pie baking!
White: White represents the beginning of things to come. The beginning of life, the arrival of a new year and the beginning of a magical journey for us to begin. Some of us even enjoy the white snow that falls during this season. White also represents mashed potatoes, cauliflower, and rice. All the great dishes to add to your Christmas dinner this year!
Gold: Gold represents the solidity of love and generosity during this season. We have gold figurines, ornaments and maybe a piece of gold jewelry from someone special under the tree! We also have gold wrapped chocolates for us to feast on.
Brown-The brown color is reminiscent of the pineapples that we put in baskets so that we can enjoy the smell of the earth, of the forest, throughout our house. I can remember my grandmother having bowls of different kinds of nuts on the tables. She would have toasted almonds, walnuts, cashews, and walnuts. Many of these nuts she used in some of her Christmas dishes (new recipe ideas?).
Blue-Blue represents the sky and its wide range. It makes me feel that achieving things in life has no limits. I can sail far and wide to be as great as I can. I will usely buy food coloring and bake multi-colored cookies with my children. Blue would be one of those colors. It’s fun, it’s festive, and it’s a way to bring everyone together for some creative activity.
These are just a few colors that we see light up our hearts and bring us closer to Christmas cheer. Add some color to your Christmas and watch her eyes light up and sparkle!
