It was the middle of the week. I just finished one night after a long and tiring day and went to sleep after tucking in my 7 month pregnant wife. That day I got home a little earlier, because I promised my wife that I would cook for her. All your favorite dishes. After dinner we went out for strawberry ice cream as my wife just craved that. However, we took our ice cream and went back. It was time to go to bed. As I was about to retire for the day, my wife said she loved ice cream and was still craving something. I promised that I would supply it the next day.
In the middle of the night I woke up to a loud noise in the kitchen. When I opened my eyes, I saw that my wife was not next to me. I ran into the kitchen and found that I was frantically searching the refrigerator for something. When I asked him, he said he was hungry and wanted dessert too. It was 2.30 in the morning. I looked back at all the piles in the refrigerator and there was no dessert there. I asked him what he was looking for exactly, so I could prepare it or go out and buy it. She said, “I would like to have some pasta and strawberry ice cream.” Wish I had bought something extra for the night.
I tried to make him understand that it was early evening and even if he went out, I might not be able to get him that ice cream. But she was pretty much in “I don’t care” mode. So, first I cooked the pasta for him and then I ventured to get him that strawberry ice cream. Luckily for me, I found the ice cream at the nearest gas station. Phew! So I bought him a whole bar. I opened the front door of the house and found that she was waiting for me in the living room. When he saw me, he literally snatched the cornetto from my hand and started eating it out of the package. And when I looked at the table next to her, I noticed that she was barely touching the pasta. So, it was just the strawberry ice cream to be precise.
She finished half the bar alone that night. But I was happy, as she was happy! The next day, I started thinking about what he should do to deal with his midnight cravings. Should I buy strawberry ice cream in bulk? What if you crave a chocolate ice cream the next night? What if she craves pizzas instead? Should I buy some pizzas too? Well, the conclusion I drew that day might sound pretty scary to current parents. You can never predict what your wife would crave at midnight. Therefore, always prepare yourself for the strangest surprise. But when you witness the broader smile on his face, you will realize that it is well worth all your time and effort. Trust me!
