Aroma AWK-115S Hot H20 X-Press 1-1/2-Liter Cordless Kettle
It’s not often that you find a product that is equally visually interesting and functionally satisfying. This particular kettle is among those unusual items: the stainless steel body is lovely to look at, and it boils water very quickly too! It includes a nice, solid, secure handle that’s generally quite comfortable, and the spout is adequately made, so you probably have to be very awkward to spill things. The cordless aspect is wonderful, I used a less expensive $10 kettle for a while and hated having to accept the cord, plus that model doesn’t come with an auto shut-off regardless of what it says on the box.
Plus, there’s more of a convenient power signal light and water level indicator, and I like that there’s no exposed heating element inside that would be a headache to clean. Rather they are clean and smooth lines, inside and out!
Of course, the actual exterior of the actual kettle can get a bit warm, so you almost certainly won’t want to have this within reach of younger children, but if your kids can climb on your kitchen counter, then just go. it has a lot of many other problems besides! I appreciated not having to deal with how plastic inevitably gets dirty and sometimes leaves a weird taste in the water.
My only slight issue is the fact that the lid needs a bit of pressure to close all the way, maybe some sort of insulating seal that shortens the time required to boil the water, however it tends to make me wonder how long that component lasts of this teapot will come to be.
KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials 2 Quart Brushed Stainless Steel Kettle
The KitchenAid 2QT Kettle is an attractive and stable addition to my cookware. I got tired of the boiling water in my previous little kettle that I chose to finally decide to buy a specific kettle.
Of course, boiling water in a pot is fine, but have you ever failed to remember boiling water when you waited and ran dry? I am responsible for the course. That’s also terrible for your pots and pans, not to mention a safety hazard.
The plastic material electric kettles worried me because of leeching concerns and the stainless steel electric ones were too expensive. I was also concerned that cleaning the electric kettle might also be more difficult and I didn’t really need one more hassle in my kitchen area to plug in the mixer etc. When the price dropped to less than half of what it cost elsewhere, I quickly dug in to pick up the KitchenAid Stainless Steel Kettle.
The stainless steel variety, as a previous reviewer mentioned, is safe on any stove. This was the biggest reason I opted for stainless steel, but a preference for good taste came second. Like any stainless steel pan or inner pot, there could be a number of white spots from hard water deposits, which are usually completely removed by boiling vinegar combined with water and letting it sit for about 10 minutes.
The kettle boils water fairly quickly and the whistle starts from somewhat quiet to a full whistle. The handle does not get hot. It can get a bit hot, however I would definitely recommend making sure you put the kettle on the correct size burner or use a slightly reduced heat if you are having trouble with a hot handle. I cannot visualize that the silicone handles can melt. I use KitchenAid silicone trivets which can get hotter and come in full contact with the bottom of my extremely hot pans and I never have a problem.
I just have some minor concerns. The functional issue I’m having is that the moment the water boils and you lift the whistle, the steam that collects in the whistle drips onto the burner and kettle. My other issues are related to KitchenAid’s packaging options. The box it came in offered very little protection against scuff marks, so my kettle had rubbed against the box at the bottom, producing an unsightly blemish. It’s not a significant deal, even if it’s at the bottom. The other is that they decided to use a highly adhesive tape to keep the top tightly closed during shipping. The tape was difficult to remove and did not come off completely when cleaned.
