My kids had been begging us to buy them a Wii for at least a year. We were hesitant because it seemed like a lot of money to spend on a video game system. However, we did like that it was an active gaming system, something that would get them off the couch! We decided to buy them a cheap Wii for Christmas last year and it has been a great investment for our entire family.
My wife and I haven’t played video games since we were kids, over twenty years ago. We were leery about our Wii console, but wow, were we wrong! It has been a lot for our whole family. The children have been competing with each other in physical competitions as well as intellectual competitions. It has been a great bonding experience for them. Also, my wife and I have had fun playing at night, after the kids have gone to bed. It has really brought us both together. While I wouldn’t normally consider myself a video game fanatic, the Wii has changed that. I would recommend one to every family I know.
It turns out that there are games for everyone available for this console. Strategy games that are turn based and can be played for days, action games where quick reactions and a cool intellect are required and of course the sports game where the wireless motion sensitive control really shines. I won’t say that the Wii has turned me into a gaming fanatic, but I don’t mind admitting that I look forward to having a couple of hours to myself in front of the big screen TV and playing some strategy game.
