Train with ‘foreign’ objects.
Go to your local tire store and get a car or truck tire. Roll or flip it up a hill or around the backyard. You have everything you need for a great full body workout. Other objects to try include sandbags and ropes.
Hit the wires.
When you use cables you can achieve any angle of resistance. You can use a light weight to tone and define smaller muscles that are lost when you use big exercises like the bench press. Mix up the angles to keep your muscles guessing.
Hit the supersets.
Instead of just doing all sets of one exercise in a row, alternate between two or more exercises with little to no rest. This will keep your heart rate up and give you that fat burning boost. Try to avoid similar exercises with this technique as your muscles will burn too quickly.
Hit overdrive.
Dig deep and find it within yourself to get those few extra reps out. That’s going to be the difference between mediocre results and actually achieving the results you really want. When you think you’ve done your last rep, try to do three more.
Go natural with your diet.
Keep your diet “clean” by eating as many berries, fruits, and vegetables as you can. Throw in some raw nuts, green tea, and water and you’ve got most of your diet covered.
Put a power lunch on the menu.
Make lunchtime a recurring meeting that you block in your schedule to go for a run or exercise. If you’ve had a bad morning this will revitalize your day too! Put yourself first and make this meeting a non-negotiable.
Fill yourself with water.
The more you drink water and prevent your stomach from emptying, the less likely you are to want to snack on bad foods. Have a glass or bottle handy and drink it before you have a snack.
Shock your body.
Change up your routine so you don’t get stuck in a rut. If you normally lift 8-12 reps, switch to lifting something heavy for 4-5 reps for a while.
Begin.
If you’re having a hard time getting motivated, at least start your workout, even if it means telling yourself you’ll only do one set. Most likely he will go ahead and finish all his training anyway.
